What We've Done In Homeschooling this Past Year;

This past year we have done a lot of different and wonderful things in our homeschooling ventures.  As the kids get older we make adjustments to fit their desires and needs.  Mine are all teenagers now and, as such, have been able to participate in more 'extra-curricular' activities.

We've found that 'as we were ready' things have been opened to us.  That's one of the greatest blessings there is.

As part of a community homeschooing group this past year we've participated in:  A Shakespeare Play, Science Class, Esperanto Class, Choir, Entrepreneur Class, Parlimentary Procedures Class and Mock Trial, and a Writing Class.  We've also done community events together with the larger group such as ice skating and an orchestral performance at a local event hall.

This most recent semester the building we were meeting-in went under repair.  So, my kids decided to add some on-line classes and music lessons.  They also participate in an on-line Science Lab where they join with a charter school several hrs. away and participate with both public school and homeschooled kids in watching amazing science demonstrations and interactive participation with the teacher.  They keep very busy with all their undertakings and are learning much more than they might think they are.

They have LOVED ALEKS math and were able to take it for free because we signed up under a charter school that uses the program.   Currently they are studying for the local spelling bee which will be held at the end of May.  There is much to learn and do.  What a blessing it is to be able to do so!
